LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Penn Badgley will have one of TV’s hottest leading ladies – “Gossip Girl” co-star Blake Lively – on his arm this Halloween, but that hasn’t always been the case for the 22-year-old actor.
When the actor was a teenager, his ghoulish Halloween costume idea was a bit too gruesome for the girls
“I was 14 years old and … went to [Burbank, California, costume shop] Cinema Secrets and I got a big old prosthetic scar and blood dripping from my face done so that it looked really nice,” he told MTV News. “It was the worst idea ever because it turned off literally every girl at the party… and I was 14, thinking I was so hot. It was terrible. It was the worst idea I ever had.”
As for Penn’s “Gossip” co-star Leighton Meester, she too had a costume nightmare with an unseasonably cold Halloween night as a child in Florida.
“I remember being a little kid and my dad making my Halloween costume…and I was a hula dancer from Hawaii " the actress/singer recalled. “It turned out to be really cold that night, and we were in Florida, which is the weirdest thing… So I ended up having to wear a sweatshirt and sweatpants over it. And everyone was like, ‘Who are you?’ and [I sighed and said,] ‘A hula girl,’ and I was so embarrassed. But now that I look back, it must have been kind of cute.”
